He made one sale (yeah), but even better the owner asked him to display some of his art in the shop and said he would really push the sales of the photos.
Then he was asked to walk in the parade on Sunday, and there was a short article about S. in the newspaper on page 2, about him being a blossoming artist in the community!

And his name is getting out there, he went to the doctor the doc asked him the meaning behind his tattoo... well S. likes the old pin-ups and cameras, so he has a tattoo of a pin-up taking a pic. with an old fashioned camera... anyway they got on the subject of S's art, and the next time S. saw the doc, the doc's wife was with him and the doc said, "This is the photographer I was telling you about." and the wife exclaimed, "Oh, yes. I saw his wonderful art show a few months back."

In other news, we had the insurance adjuster come by to look at our hail damage (I really didn't think we had much), but we're getting new roofs for the house and both garages. New siding on the house and one garage, and a paint allowance for the other garage. Along with some money for some facias, screens, and the wrapping around some of the windows.... Just hope our rates don't go up too much.

Friday, June 08, 2007

Dinner and a movie at a friend's tonight... rhubarb cake supplied by me.
A benefit tomorrow.... cake, brownies and S's photo donated to raise some dough, along with five bands, food and a bunch of people S. will know...
Then after the benefit, it's off to Rock the Brewery... three bands, food, lots of people S. will know and probably my dad and step-mom.
Sunday... hopefully some card making and maybe some yard cleaning after the softball sized hail from yesterday... and my daffodil/mum plot could use a good weeding.

Sunday, June 03, 2007

Dang, the month of May went by fast!
We got a bunch of Day Lilies from a friend and planted those, harvested rhubarb; made pies, cakes and froze the rest. Tons of onions and garlic came up, so soon we'll freecycle it, so it doesn't choke the growth of the raspberries.

We also were given some wrought iron furniture for outside... I just need to wash off the cushions and we'll have some lovely seating... all in all the front yard is starting to look good. I was going to plant marigolds today, but it's a bit rainy.

I'm almost done reorganizing my craft room... mainly the rubber stamps so I can see them better, and all the holiday stamps are in a six tiered rolling cart that my step-mom gave me, very cool!

Swap-bot has been keeping me busy making cards to swap with partners. I finally had time to make some new creations to put on Etsy (sometime this week)... a cherry picture and a fairy card.

The online book club has started up, so I need to read The Fifth Child by Wednesday... and the meet in person book club (meeting later this month) will be reading The Amber Room by Steve Berry. (I read The Romanov Prophecy by him, and it was pretty good... so hopefully this one will be too.)

Oh yeah, and be working... lots.

Sunday, April 29, 2007

How quickly time flies when you're busy...
Finally after almost nine years my dining room chairs are reupholstered! They look wonderful. They had material on the arm, seat and back. They're captain chairs so there is a space all around the middle... anyway, we stripped the wood bare and varnished it, then only put material back onto the seat of the chair. Two are a chocolate brown (fake) suede, and two are a burnt orange (fake) suede. Beautiful.

I've been busy reading books for the book clubs I'm in, but unfortunately I'm thinking the online one is going to have to be put on hold for a bit.
But the in person Book Club was last Wed., hosted at my house, and it was fun. This was only our second meeting, but I'm already really looking forward to them.

And Etsy, so busy making cards, keeping up with the WIST websites, and coming up with ideas to promote.
Plus S. and I are getting deeper into beginning an artist community here in Wis. Rapids. Very beginning stages, but that's often when a project needs the most attention.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007

Once I joined Etsy it was inevitable that I would join the Wisconsin
Street Team, which led to joining the Blogger group (made so all our
information would be easy to find and not get lost on the Esty Forums).
Then I had to join the Google group (to make sure I kept up with the
stuff that may not be put on the Blogger site).
After that came the Flickr site to look at other people's photos and to post some of my own. Then of course, there's this site.

Between
all the sites, and checking them throughout the day, it's a miracle I
make any cards... and in fact I've seen a decrease in the past week.
So limits must be set. One check in the morning, and one at night... with the possible check at work (if it's slow).

Tuesday, March 27, 2007

Change is in the air, that's one of the reasons why Spring is my second favorite season. As a child it was my least... to much mud outside, and Summer seemed to take forever to come about....
And with the change brings old friends back to Wisconsin, and new friends... which is about time, because I love S. dearly, but there's just something about hanging out with girlfriends.

And this weekend, we'll get to see the bestest bud who came back... (yea!), get to visit my dad, go out for the best fish fry that I've ever had, do some shopping, and whatever else catches our fancy.... Where for art thou Friday?

Saw the Prestige last night... really enjoyed it. Unlike the Illusionist, it had us guessing for a bit.

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

We had a very nice end of week/weekend, although by Sunday it had caught up to us... guess we're not use to so much excitement in our lives.
Friends and Family came from near and far to see S's photo exhibit, amuse us, and feed us (Thanks again for the yummy dinner and wonderful conversation... you know who ; )
The exhibit went well. S. received lots of encouragement, sold a few pieces, and I think made a new photo buddy... to talk shop with... and photo buddy comes with a wife, so perhaps I will have someone else who I can smile and nod with when talk turns to cameras.

I am in the beginning stages of selling my cards at www.keepitmagickal.etsy.com
And S. is at the beginning stages of my new website http://www.keepitmagickal.com
So check them out, and I would really like any ideas or suggestions (especially thoughts on the website)
